Municipality of the San Pedro de Macorís province that has two municipal districts: El Puerto and Guatier. Its origins date back to the early seventeenth century. This region was populated by emigrants evicted from the north of the island after the devastations of Governor Antonio de Osorio (1606). Here the settlers raised important cattle herds.
