Popularly known as the Eden of the South, it is one of the six municipalities of the San Juan province. The economic activities of the municipality are based on large-scale agriculture and commerce. The main crops are beans, pigeon peas, onion, avocado, sour and sweet orange, corn, rice, sweet potato, squash, and coffee.
